A Female Focus: Behind the Lens
Local Urban Scenes

The locations of these photos will be recognisable to many who live in Milton Keynes. We hope that they capture the diversity of the architecture and landscapes of our wonderful city from the city centre bus station to the green parkland surrounding the almshouses at Great Linford.

Artworks Top Left To Right

1. Dorothy Faulkner:  Night wait at the bus station (2018) I was attracted to this scene with the lone figure in the middle distance, and the lighting and perspective of the bus shelters. Post-processed in Photoshop, Nikon D90 and 18-105mm lens, 28mm, f/10, 1sec, ISO 200.
2. Liz Whitelegg: Law Courts Milton Keynes (2018) The high contrast black and white image of the law courts highlights the starkness of the building. Canon EOS 700D1/200 sec. f/10 18 mm, ISO 200. Edited in Lightroom.
3. Dorothy Faulkner: The Far Side - MK Point (2018) Round the back of this iconic MK building, I wanted to capture the contrast between the curved staircase and the straight lines of the building together with the sky reflected in the glass.  Post-processed in Photoshop. Nikon D90, 18 -105 mm lens, 22mm, f/11, 1/320, ISO 200.
4. Carole Brown: Fractured Reflections (2019)  Milton Keynes Centre. I liked the way the windows caused the image to fracture. Reflection of Christ the Cornerstone DMC-TZ100 B/W ISO125 f5.9 1/250 Edited in Lightroom and Nik Silverfx.
5. Carole Brown: Market (2021) Milton Keynes Market; DMC-TZ100 in built panorama ISO125 f4 1/400 Edited in Lightroom and Nik Silver Efex Pro.
   
6. Christine Thomas: Theatre and Gallery (2019) MK Gallery and theatre taken from Campbell Park with a Canon EOS 700D; exposure 1/160 at f/11 ISO 100 focal length 50mm. Edited in Photoshop using solarise filter and converted to black and white.
7. Samantha Jeffs: Tree Cathedral (2016) MK Tree Cathedral – Looking down the main aisle towards the altar. Taken on an iPhone and processed using Prisma to abstract the trees elements to highlight their similarities to a stone-built cathedral.
8. Christine Thomas:  Relaxing in the Park (2020) Taken in Great Linford Manor Park by the almshouses with a Canon EOS 700D; exposure 1/100 at f/8.0 ISO 100 focal length 50mm and edited in Lightroom.
